Pastor Paul A. Tullberg
Sermon text: Luke 6:17-26
REFLECT:

1. Each BEATITUDE has a REQUIREMENT to be met followed by a REWARD. Some current views of ‘happiness’ or ‘blessedness’ are shallow compared to the Bible. What physical states or conditions do some link together with ‘blessedness’. What is the danger of the false teaching that the absence of such ‘blessings’ indicates an absence of faith, and the following of evil?

Respond:
2.  Jesus exposes the radical “secret identity” of every believer. Hint: It’s not a secret. And it is not something I have to make, to create, in me. Jesus simply and graciously declares that His believers are blessed. The Holy Spirit lives in me. So can you explain about this “mourning-business beatitude? What kind of mourning does God look to bless in these verses? Comments?

3. This week I will write down just three of Jesus’ beatitudes for myself to pray about. Then, on purpose, I will find ways to practice these three in my own family. Every day I will apologize to Jesus for my failures and every day thank Him for His mercies!
