Questions

1 In what ways does admitting our need for mercy each day enable us to grow as disciples?
2. ‘Wow, that singing was so uplifting’ or ‘I could listen to that preacher for hours’. What hidden dangers could sneak in behind such appreciative words?
3. “Believers fail to honor God’s name . . . fail to seek first God’s kingdom . . . fail to do our Father’s will’. Jesus taught us to pray reflective words. His prayer acts almost like a mirror. It often hurts to pray.” Comment.
4. Where do we stand, personally, if even the noble and godly Isaiah, Peter, Rahab found themselves totally unacceptable before the LORD? How do we remain standing?
5. The Holy Spirit taught the apostle Paul to use these words to describe life as a forgiven child of the living God, ‘living by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me’. Then God taught His apostle these words, ‘the love of God shed abroad, flooding, our hearts by the Holy Spirit’. First personal, then public. Are we to echo this pattern in our lives? Comment.

THE FIFTH PETITION

FORGIVE US OUR SINS, AS WE FORGIVE THOSE WHO SIN AGAINST US.

What does this mean?

We pray in this petition that our Father in heaven would not look upon our sins or because of them deny our prayers; for we are worthy of none of the things for which we ask, neither have we deserved them, but we ask that He would give them all to us by grace; for we daily sin much and surely deserve nothing but punishment.
So we too will forgive from the heart and gladly do good to those who sin against us.

We value your friendship and the opportunity to share the love of Jesus together with you!
