Meets 3rd Tuesday of the month at 6:30 PM here.
What is this “Bread and Bible” thing, anyway?
The idea came from a couple of our members who got it from their former pastor who was also a chef. Well, we all know how us Lutherans like to eat, and the thought was, “Gosh… how could I use my talents as a chef to bring more people to the Bible?” And the idea of “Bread and Bible” classes was born.
And so our classes were born. The first year that we had this, each month, we concentrated on one “part” of cooking, or a technique, like marinating, or grilling, making bread, etc. and then, the REALLY cool part of it all was the fact that we discovered that there’s a way to make EVERYTHING tie into the Bible. We had a Bible study on “the Bread of Life”. We marinated in God’s love, and we discovered so many wonderful things about how much God loves us in our short devotion each month.
Last year, our second year, we concentrated on foods from different countries or ethnic regions. We had French night, we had Italian night, we had German night. The variety of dishes we discovered was incredible! Ever had fried cabbage with dumplings? Sounds kind of “ahckee” but in actuality, is really quite yummy! Our Bible studies weren’t necessarily tied into these different subjects, but were still incredibly fun and educational.
THIS year, we are actually “Cooking with the Bible”. We are a cookbook that has an actual full menu, a Bible study, etc… all laid out for us. Won’t you join us? Please do!
